'Mountain Songs'.... art reviews, workshops & more!
What a wonderful reception 'Mountain Songs' has received! I'm both humbled and incredibly excited by the response. It warms my soul to know that the work is being read as I indented.
I recently received a wonderful review in the Australian art journal 'Artist Profile'.
Writer and Deputy Ed of Artist Profile, Erin McFayden, said about the work:
"Rath’s relationship to these landscapes, then, is embodied, and the paintings foreground the haptic experience which is their basis. Her brush strokes are gestural – broad, free – and her colours expressive. They emphasise the painter (and the paint), rather than insisting on power to represent the painted land. "

The support from Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre during the show has been invaluable. They have included my work in their art journal 'Art Up Close' and I'm to teach a charcoal workshop this coming Saturday for their " The Arts Social' series. The workshop includes an informal lunch with me which will be fun.
Finally, I recently spent a week in their Artist in Residency program painting in the Wollemi National Park, which was a very special experience. More news to follow in the coming months.
'Mountain Songs' concludes June 26. Please contact the gallery for information.
Thank you for following me on this journey.
Yours in art,
Bec xoxo
