Opening night "Mountain Songs"Exhibition May 2021
Opening night is always a blur of delightful conversations, a few laughs and nerve racking speeches! Saturday night was no exception.
I was thrilled to see some old faces and meet new ones. I was also thrilled to see my work hanging in the gallery. Elissa and the team have done a marvelous job at curating. The exhibition looks wonderful and I'm honored to be showing at the gallery.
The recent body of work sees the use of the palette knife and bold colours to emphasize the fearless flora of the Australian bush together with its unique vibrant sky, unyielding light and vigorous foliage.
Seeking influence from the masters and traditions such as impressionism and expressionism, my work couples these together and brings them into a contemporary painting setting. This is seen in the traditional dark to light oil painting technique merged with a dynamic painting style.
